Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
- No accounts, no ads, no cookies from us, no selling anything about you.
- We count visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics tool that doesn't use cookies.
- Your scores and settings stay in your own browser. We never see them.
1. Who we are
The Oven is a small, free, non-commercial game site run by Sakhawat Adib. This page explains what information is involved when you visit, and why.
2. What we don't collect
We don't ask for your name, email, phone number or any other personal details. There are no sign-ups, no logins, no ad networks, no social media trackers, and we don't set cookies.
3. Visit counting (analytics)
We use GoatCounter to count how many times each page and game is opened. This is how the play counts on the shelf work, and it tells us which games people enjoy. GoatCounter is open source and describes itself as privacy-friendly: it doesn't use cookies and says it doesn't store personal data.
When you open a page, GoatCounter receives roughly:
- the page you visited (for example
/games/pocket-snake/); - the site that linked you here (the referrer), if your browser sends it;
- your browser and operating system, and your screen size;
- an approximate country, worked out from your IP address.
We only see totals in a dashboard, never individual people. If you use an ad blocker, it may block GoatCounter, and that's completely fine; every game works the same either way.
4. Data stored on your device
The games use your browser's local storage to remember things like:
- your best scores, best distance, and the level you reached;
- whether sound is on or off;
- on the home page, your sort choice and the games you opened recently.
This information never leaves your device and is never sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings (this will also reset your scores).
5. Other services the site relies on
- GitHub Pages hosts the site. Like any web host, GitHub may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages and keep the service secure. See the GitHub Privacy Statement.
- Google Fonts serves the pixel fonts on some pages. When those load, your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. See Google Fonts privacy.
- Public CDNs (like cdnjs or jsDelivr) may be used by some games to load open-source libraries, which also means your browser connects to them.
6. Children
The games are suitable for all ages, and since we don't collect personal information, we don't knowingly collect any from children.
7. Games from contributors
Every game, including those from contributors, must follow the contribution rules, which forbid ads, trackers, and sending player data anywhere other than the analytics tag described above.
8. Changes
If anything here changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
